A Massachusetts man faces 20 years in prison after pleading guilty on Thursday to first-degree manslaughter in the 2009 death of a Forest Hills man.
The office of Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Alexys Fermaintt, 33, of Holyoke, Mass, has pleaded guilty to the stabbing death of Michael Pecora, 38, in 2009.
“The guilty plea is a measure of justice for the victim’s family in that they will be spared the trauma of hearing all the gruesome details of the killing at trial while being assured that the person responsible for this brutal attack on their loved on will serve a lengthy prison sentence,” Brown said in a statement issued by his office.
Fermaintt has been held without bail since his arrest in June 2009.
The two men allegedly had met online. They were in Pecora’s 65th Avenue apartment in Forest Hills when Fermaintt stabbed Pecora multiple times. He fled the apartment with Pecora’s laptop, cell phone and watch.
