The Forest Park Carousel, a long-time staple in the Woodhaven community, has reopened thanks to the efforts of area residents and government officials. The carousel, which was officially closed in 2008, will now be operated by NY Carousel Entertainment and will be open on weekends until the beginning of July, when it will be open seven days a week through Labor Day.
The ride reopened Thursday. One resident who attended, Pam Steffens, 69, used to take her son to the carousel when he was a child and found the event very emotional. “it’s a proud day for us Woodhavenites,” she said.
