Is it the borough’s Halle Berry? Or is Michelle Pfeiffer getting frisky in Forest Hills?
The police this week were asking for the public’s assistance in locating a woman who has robbed at least two businesses on Austin Street while wearing a black scarf around her face, black clothing and a cat mask.
According to the NYPD, the pattern began back in April, when the so-called Catwoman entered the Nine West shoe store on Austin Street near 71st Road and passed a note to a clerk which stated “I have a gun — give me the money.” The woman fled the shop with an unknown amount of cash.
Cops said the feline thief late last month fancied another business on Austin Street, this time a beauty and cosmetics shop between 71st Avenue and 71st Road. She entered The Body Shop shortly before 1 p.m. and handed a note to an employee which stated that her husband would come in and shoot everyone in the establishment if she did not get cash. The woman was given an unknown amount of money and then fled.
Just a day before the brazen beauty shop burglary, the woman knocked off a store on Astor Place in Manhattan. Police released surveillance footage of the heist in which she perused the shop for about an hour before casually handing over a note to clerk indicating she had a gun and wanted money. She once again fled with an unknown amount of cash.
Cops said they’re looking for a female in her 20s, approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 115 lbs. Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit tips by logging onto Crimestoppers.com or by texting tips to CRIMES (274637) and then entering TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
