Middle Village resident Carl Burner, shown here at his 109th Birthday party in 2011, died on Monday.

He would have turned 111 on Jan. 27,

Berner, a native of Stuttgart, Germany, was one of the founders of the Juniper Civic Association, which originated as the Eliot Avenue Civic Association in 1938.

Published reports said he came to the United States in 1922, and that the family is not planning a funeral.

He is shown here with JCPA President Bob Holden, left, Theresa Riley, Amy Holden, Emily Berner, his daughter, and Tony Nunziato.
