The federal trial of so-called “Cannibal Cop” Gilberto Valle of Queens kicked off Monday, with testimony every bit as sickening as the charges against him promised it would be.

Valle, a Forest Hills resident and former member of the NYPD, is charged in federal court with one count each of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and intentionally accessing computer files at the National Crime Information Center to further his plot.

He allegedly planned to kidnap, murder, cook and eat a number of women, and talked about his plans to do so with other people online.

The main question at his trial seems to be whether he was serious, as the prosecution contends, or was just fantasizing, as the defense says.

In one instance, Valle allegedly pointed another internet user to a video of a woman the defendant knew in college frolicking in a bathing suit, according to published reports. Valle allegedly told his online acquaintance that she “was going to be delicious” and that “I just enjoy the thought of making her suffer.”

The conversation only got more disgusting from there.

An agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation testified that he divided Valle’s online discussions into two categories: fantasies and reality.

“The ones I believed were real, the people were sharing names, details, pictures of women,” the New York Post quoted the agent as saying.

Also testifying was Valle’s estranged wife, who fled their apartment with their infant daughter after discovering computer records of his “fetish.”

“All of a sudden, I’m seeing pictures of me, pictures of our friends,” she testified, according to the Daily News. “I was supposed to be tied by my feet, my throat slit, and they were going to watch the blood rush from my body. ... The suffering was for his enjoyment, and he wanted to make it last as long as possible.”
