City Council candidate Andrea Veras will be hosting a community block cleanup with the Briarwood Task Force, the community group she founded.

The event will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. on Main Street between 84th Road and Manton Street.

This group says the stretch of street has been left unattended for some time now and that garbage, graffiti and overgrown grass have made it an eyesore in the community.

The Briarwood Task Force will pick up trash and paint over the long wall along Main Street in Briarwood. They have been planning to paint the wall for years now.

Volunteers are asked to come dressed for work with boots, jeans and gloves if they have them. Refreshments will be provided.

If you are interested in volunteering, contact Zlata Akilova at (347) 279-4410 or email her at zlatapragga@yahoo.com.

RSVPs are encouraged but not mandatory and the event is open to anyone who wishes to help clean up the neighborhood.
