The Shops at Atlas Park opened its new Center Green, a 10,000-square-foot area designed for entertainment and community events such as concerts on Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremmony. A free concert will be held at the plaza today, July 4, to kick off a series of events this summer.
“We want people to rediscover The Shops at Atlas Park,” the Glendale mall’s marketing manager, Peter DeLucia, said. “From being able to come out and enjoy the fresh air and great entertainment now being offered to visiting our new retailers, we have some exciting things happening here. Our Summer on the Green events series will include activities for kids, concerts, live DJs, Movies on the Green and more, basically something for everyone.”
Cutting the ribbon on the new plaza were Frank Fazio, left, from the office of state Sen. Joe Addabbo Jr., DeLucia, Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, property manager Lisa Diaz, Rep. Grace Meng, Assemblyman Mike Miller, Melva Miller from the office of Borough President Helen Marshall and Frank Lucia of Macerich, the mall operator.
Entertainment included a performance by the Sacred Heart School twirlers, far right, while Crowley presented Diaz with a certificate for helping out the victims of last fall’s Hurricane Sandy.
