The landmarking of the Forest Hills Firehouse, the 90-year-old red brick home of Engine 305 and Ladder 151 on Queens Boulevard at 75th Avenue, was celebrated May 18 at a special event hosted by City Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz and the Central Queens Historical Association. Many turned out to applaud the designation.

Among the celebrants, above, were Jeff Gottlieb, left, president of the Central Queens Historical Association; Jim Driscoll, vice president of the Queens Historical Society; Capt. Kevin Meyer, commander of the firehouse; Lt. Richard Skellington of Engine 305 and Lt. Carl Italiano of Ladder 151.

Rabbi Gerald Skolnik of the Forest Hills Jewish Center delivered the invocation while the Rev. Antonin Kocurek of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church gave the benediction.

The many s peakers and attendees included Borough President Melinda Katz, Community Board 6 Chairman Joseph Hennessy and state Sen. Joe Addabbo Jr.

Welcome to the discussion.
