My name is Elizabeth Bisciello and my boyfriends name is Chris Varano. I am 25 and Chris is 28. We have known eachother for about 12 years in total. My best friend's brother is Chris's best friend. We are 3 years apart and we were always around eachother growing up. Of course way back then, I was considered the "younger" girl and was basically off limits to any of the "older" boys. I always knew there was something special about Chris from the very beginning. Just the glow he had about him was so unique and special. I knew his heart must have been so wonderful and good. (Boy was I right).

Years passed and we grew older as children intend to do, and now that I was of age to go to the 21 clubs and bars, I would often see Chris out. We would glance at eachother, always too shy to approach one another. Then one day I found him on the sight "Myspace", and decided I was going to take the first step in making contact, and so I friended him.

We would speak via internet for a few weeks until deciding to meet up one night for a cup of coffee. The plans that night had a change of events considering it was the night my niece Alyxandra was born! Coffee fell through, so instead he picked me up and we drove around for countless hours just getting to know one another and laughing the whole time. After that night, it was all history. We are now in the year 2010, and have been together since December of 2006. I couldn't have asked for a better partner to share in this life with.

In May of 2008, we got news that Chris was going to have to have emergency aortic valve replacement surgery right away. He was in heart failure, after contracting an infection that deteriorated his aortic valve. After learning this news, he underwent surgery and was hospitalized for 11 days. He came through the surgery well, but there was 3 months of recovery to follow. During his recovery stages, he had lost his very good job with a HVAC company in Long Island. Before learning of his surgery, we thought we were on the right track and were even talking about getting engaged and starting our life together.

We took this devastation of his job loss in stride and tried to put our positive foot forward, and put all of our effort in his healing. When he was back on his feet, he had filled out numerous applications, and still no bite. The country was now in a recession and jobs were scarce. It has been a very trying time for us both. Struggling week by week to try and save enough money to hopefully get our future off to a start in the next 4 years or so, maybe even longer. He is currently working as a courier for medical supplies in Brooklyn, but isn't making close to what he was before in the other job.

We would love to get our feet planted in the ground and have a plan for our future asap. With the help of God and our faith, we will never give up and will stick through this hard time hand in hand as we always have. Love is the best gift we could have ever asked for, and I am blessed to have him in my life. If he hadn't survived his surgery, I don't think I could have gone on without him.

Welcome to the discussion.
